Launching the Green Heritage Schools Initiative

A new schools programme turning classrooms and school gardens into hands-on labs for climate action and food security.

Today we officially launched the Green Heritage Schools Initiative, a multi-year programme placing practical climate action and food security at the heart of the school day.

What every partner school gets

A school tree nursery and seedbank stocked with indigenous species.
A working kitchen garden as a living science classroom.
Termly Green Ambassador training for a rotating group of pupil leaders.
Improved-cookstove and rainwater-harvesting demonstrations.

Why it matters

Uganda's next generation will feel climate change most sharply. Green Heritage builds daily habits — planting, composting, saving water, cooking cleanly — inside the schools where children already spend most of their time.
